Silverstone Interactive Museum Opens for MotoGP Fans

The Silverstone Interactive Museum is exclusively open to visitors of the British round of MotoGP for the first time since officially launching in March 2020. This immersive visitor attraction missed out on welcoming 2-wheel fans last summer as the Silverstone round of the Championship did not take place due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Silverstone Interactive Museum features some of the most iconic bikes that have played a part in the 70-year history of Silverstone circuit including Barry Sheene’s Suzuki XR27 from the famous Roberts vs Sheene dual at the 1979 British Grand Prix and Maverick Viñales 2016 MotoGP winning Suzuki GSX-RR. Going back further in to the history fans can see a fantastic example of a Norton Manx, the type that was extremely popular with racers in the 50’s and 60’s as well as Cyril Smith’s 1952 Norton-Watsonian Sidecar which took three victories at Silverstone in the 1950’s.

The Silverstone Interactive Museum has been designed to inspire the next generation and features over 60 hands-on exhibits where visitors can try out a wide variety of activities – from getting your knee down on a BSB Suzuki, operating a wind tunnel, piloting a Wellington bomber, taking part in a pit stop and climbing into a replica Grand Prix car. Visitors can even see whether they have got what it takes to commentate on a race.

Rounding off a visit is a thrilling immersive film show – the ultimate lap of Silverstone – bringing together some of the circuit’s most famous racing 2 and 4 wheel moments with commentary from Murray Walker, Martin Brundle and David Croft.
