About the role

The Head of Events and Venue Hire is responsible for leading and managing the Events department, developing and executing strategies to drive venue hire sales to corporate clients and organisations, while ensuring the delivery of exceptional events and maintaining high client satisfaction.

This role focuses on client management and sales leadership, overseeing lead generation and conversion efforts to meet sales targets and business objectives. The Head of Events & Venue Hire will take a proactive approach to building and nurturing client relationships, ensuring that customer satisfaction is consistently exceeded. Attendance at events will be needed which will include weekends, evenings, and bank holidays.

Key responsibilities include event sales and management, reporting and collaborating closely with the Visitor Experience team to provide a seamless event experience for clients. The role involves working with the Marketing team to plan promotional activity and marketing budget allocation. Innovation and entrepreneurship is encouraged to ensure the delivery of event strategy outcomes.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled individual to take ownership of our Events and Venue Hire strategy, drawing on their extensive expertise in event sales and delivery. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving revenue growth through collaboration with various stakeholders across the business.

Key attributes of the ideal candidate include:

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional client experiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, managing, and executing an event department strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience in venue hire sales and client management.
  • Strong negotiation abilities, with a confident and persuasive approach.
  • Proven track record in problem-solving, with the ability to quickly identify challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, adapting to change while effectively prioritising tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Solid financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and maximising resource efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, always maintaining a professional and approachable manner.
  • Strong leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and guide a team towards achieving objectives.
  • Extensive experience within the event management industry (essential).
